After all, cameras do not catch thieves but only record the footage.
Nevertheless, garages can often be the easiest place to break into a home. Overhead garage doors are not very strong, especially the aluminum ones. Worse than that, if a garage door opener is installed, it can be extremely easy to unlatch the door and raise it. The best way to make those windows more secure is to cover them with burglar bars.

You want this to be the point that everyone wants to use to attack your home. If you can channel the focus of anyone looking to raid your property, you have a better chance of looking in the right direction when there is an issue. When the world ends, some people will reach a level of desperation where nothing will discourage them from attempting to take what you have.
With that said, alarm systems serve a second, even more critical function – alerting the occupants of the home when someone tries to break in. In many instances, the sound of an alarm going off is enough to scare away would-be intruders. In an SHTF scenario, though, the sound of an alarm by itself is probably not going to be enough of a deterrent. Matters of security cut across and you only ensure your safety by doing everything possible to protect your property and its occupants.
Always leave a car in the driveway.
Yeah, I even turned off all the lights because I thought if I couldn’t see the thieves, they would not see anything either. You need to spring into action as the last line of defense. To do that, you need self-defense weapons, which should be readily accessible.
Because although you might have an endgame protocol, you may need some time to prepare. In fact, it should not be easy to prepare, or else you run the risk of using it when you don’t need to or before the most ideal time. If someone defeats your perimeter security, they still have your home’s fortifications to contend with.

Some preppers recommend building a 7-foot tall wall or fence around your backyard to deter potential looters. While a giant fence does make it harder for someone to snoop on your property, it’s also the most obvious sign that you have stuff worth stealing. Other than your household, no one should know that you have food, water, and supplies stashed away. Once word goes out that your house has everything people need for SHTF, expect everyone and their brother to come knocking at your door.
Due to their spiky structure, it becomes hard to penetrate through. As part of your camouflaging plan, try to paint the house with more natural colors while avoiding the overly bright paint colors. Designing a home is not an easy task that's why I shared the most useful information with you. P.P.S. But you CAN shoot me an email and request a specific topic.
Securely Lock the Garage Door
It is time for you to let loose your final effort to survive. It is meant for entry, which means you do not need to make yourself vulnerable by entering through it. Though windows can be broken and there are ways to make openings of opportunity, they are less desirable than a door.
Build it at an accessible location, somewhere each family member can quickly flee to. Self-defense should be a major part of your home defense plan. Most of them would simply walk right up to your door and smash their way through it. Think it’s enough to just look out your window for assailants when SHTF? Another home defense trick, more of a deterrent, really, is to hang signs on your property. Placing signs such as “Quarantine area,” “No Trespassing,” and even “Trespassers will be shot on sight” may stop them dead in their tracks.
Stockpile safety supplies, food, water and weapons in your panic room. Many survivalists dream of adding a tall fence around their property at some point or another. You’d think that a 10-foot tall cinderblock barrier would do the trick, but a group of intruders could easily work together to scale it, or simply go around. Unfortunately, placing that big of a barricade around your home is like putting up a flashing neon sign advertising that your home is the place to go! At that point, you’re practically begging for someone to clamber over and steal your gear. There is no sense in hiding them because the number one benefit of security cameras is the deterrent that they provide.
Not all fences are bad but most fences are mere child’s play for an experienced criminal or a desperate mob. But are ways to help conceal your house and naturally protect your privacy and provide security. The good news is a potential intruder doesn’t know if that security camera is tied to a monitoring system or not.
Unfortunately, unlike curtains, you are stuck with the consequences of the increased privacy for good and bad. On the plus side, you don’t need to remember to draw your curtains to get your privacy. Having a neighbor on your side can pay dividends when it comes to the security of your home, above and beyond that of a fence.
There are many ways of scaring a burglar or an assailant; using warning signs is just one of them. If you are designing a new home, consider having a garage at the back where no one sees your car. Just blend in with the rest and do not expose your valuables. Also, you can consider having window curtains, sheers, or blinds that will prevent the valuables from being seen on the outside. However, if they become desperate enough, they can go past the cameras.
